Shape: Colorless and transparent monoclinic crystal.

Features: Sodium thiosulfite is easily soluble in water and reacts with strong acid to produce sulfur and sulfur dioxide. It is a colorless, transparent knot crystal or crystalline fine particles; odorless, salty; weathering in dry air, deliquescent in wet air, a weak alkaline reaction of the aqueous solution. With the participation of rhodanese, it can be free with or in the body. The combination of white-bound cyanide ions forms a non-toxic thiocyanate which is excreted in the urine to decompose cyanide poisoning. In addition, it can combine with a variety of metal ions to form non-toxic sulfides that are excreted in the urine and also have desensitization effects.

Application: Mainly used in the photographic industry as a fixer. Secondly, as a reducing agent for dichromate during tanning, a neutralizing agent for nitrogen-containing tail gas, mordant, bleach for wheat straw and wool, and dechlorination agent for pulp bleaching. Also used in tetraethyl lead dyes.
